What are fascias and soffits?

Fascias are the boards that run along the roofline directly behind the gutters. Soffits are the panels that fill the gap between the fascia and the wall. Together they protect the roof structure from the weather and give your home a clean, finished appearance.

Over time, uPVC fascias and soffits accumulate green algae, black mould, dirt and weathering that turns them grey or green. Regular cleaning restores the original white colour, prevents permanent staining, and keeps your home looking its best.

Our method

We clean fascias and soffits by hand from ladders using specialist uPVC cleaning products that lift algae and mould without damaging the surface. This is often done in the same visit as your gutter clean — saving you time and cost.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Can you clean my fascias and soffits at the same time as my gutters?

Yes — in most cases we can clean fascias, soffits and gutters in the same visit. This is the most cost-effective way to get all your roofline cleaned in one go. Just mention it when you call.

How often should fascias and soffits be cleaned?

Every 2–3 years is usually sufficient for most homes in Kent. Properties in shaded or damp areas, or near trees, may need more frequent cleaning as algae builds up faster.

Do you use a pressure washer for soffit and fascia cleaning?

No. We hand-clean fascias and soffits using soft cloths and specialist uPVC products rather than a pressure washer. High-pressure water can crack older boards, drive water behind the soffit and into the roof void, and strip the surface — hand-cleaning gives a better, safer finish.

Will soffit and fascia cleaning bring my white uPVC back to its original colour?

In most cases, yes. The grey and green you see is usually algae, mould and weathered dirt sitting on the surface rather than the plastic itself fading. Our uPVC products lift that layer to restore the original white finish. Boards that have genuinely UV-faded over many years may not return to brand-new white, but they will look dramatically cleaner.

Why do my uPVC fascias and soffits go green and black?

Kent's damp climate means north-facing and shaded roofline boards collect green algae and black mould, while general airborne dirt builds up over time. Soffits sit under the roof overhang where moisture lingers, so they often discolour fastest. Regular cleaning clears it before it stains the plastic permanently.
